Make sure Santa is the only one calling this Christmas
EURO002 11/12/08

With more than a million break-ins forecast on Boxing Day and New Year’s Eve alone, Europlas is warning homeowners across Torbay to tighten up on their home security in the run up to Christmas.

Burglary figures rise dramatically around the festive season as opportunist thieves cash in on Christmas gifts galore. Europlas warns that this means having top-notch security measures in place is even more essential.

Jim Short, general manager, Europlas, said: “Christmas is a hectic time of year and home security issues can easily be overlooked but with burglary a real threat, homeowners need to take action now.”

Home security is already a concern for many people and figures from a survey by Abbey Insurance suggest that 16 per cent of homeowners (7.4 million people) will be staying at home this Christmas for fear of being burgled.

Jim said: “Staying at home is an extreme example. By having effective security measures in place, more homeowners can relax in the knowledge that their homes are protected and enjoy the festive period with friends and family.”

There are lots of things to consider when burglary-proofing your home but having secure locks in place on all windows and doors is critical. Other things include keeping valuables out of sight, making sure alarm systems are in good working order and having lights on timers when you leave the house.

Jim added: “Leaving a TV or radio on when no-one’s in can also discourage thieves who are less likely to stop by if they think people are at home.”

As a leading supplier of secure PVC-U windows, doors and conservatories, Europlas is offering homeowners peace of mind when it comes to the security of their homes.

All products provide the most advanced security features including the police preferred ‘Secured by Design’ (SBD) accreditation. With the latest product technology, Secured by Design products are designed to resist burglary and have to meet exacting standards to carry the logo.

Jim added: “Europlas takes the security of our customers’ homes very seriously and has invested in the most advanced and secure products to give them peace of mind when making their purchases.

“Christmas is a magical time of year when families get together and celebrate. By making a few simple improvements to home security, homeowners can stop thieves in their tracks and concentrate on enjoying the festive holidays.”
