Europlas fitters fit the bill
EURO003 09/06/09
Home improvement specialist, Europlas, has reinforced its commitment to installer development as fourteen members of the fitting team receive their Level 2 NVQ in Fenestration.
Successful fitters from Torquay included Simon Jackson, Damian Jackson, Matthew Morey, John Morgan, Arron Westwood and Guy Mitchell.
David Wayne, Jamie Giplin, Geoffrey Head and Phil Wayne of Newton Abbot; Dave Rodger and Nathan Beeney of Plymouth; Ronnie Gowan of Paignton and Jason Gardner of Exeter also successfully completed the NVQ.
Simon Higgins, Europlas’ operations manager said: “We encourage all of our installers to apply for the NVQ award. As well as being an industry recognised award, Europlas consider it a vital part of our on-going commitment to provide high quality installations and exceptional levels of customer care.”
To achieve the award, the fourteen fitters completed three installation exams at three separate sites over a twelve month period.
Seven areas in total were assessed which included health and safety, material handling, installation requirements and installation of product. During each visit, each of the fitters were asked a variety of questions to illustrate their subject knowledge and also had to carry out related tasks to demonstrate their ability and competency.
Guy Mitchell, Torquay said: “Since I have joined Europlas I’ve found that the company is really dedicated to employee development. The NVQ award was really informational and interesting. Not only that, it acknowledges my ability to perform the skills I use on a daily basis and enabled me to obtain an industry recognized qualification. It also gave me the confidence to know that I can help customers with whatever they need.”
Europlas, part of the Epwin Group, is a key supplier of PVC-U windows, conservatories, doors and roofline products in the Southwest. Other Epwin Group companies include Sierra Windows, Quantal and Swish Windows and Doors Systems. Not only has the company invested significantly in employee development but also in product development, delivering an advanced range of secure products, from PVC-U windows to garage doors, roofline products to solar panels, to keep homeowners and their possessions safe.
Jim Short, general manager, Europlas said “We are very proud of the Europlas employee development programme and are delighted to congratulate all the fitters in their achievement of what is a very important qualification for our business.
“By putting our employees through the course we can make sure that they are up to date with the most recent legislation and installation techniques. This helps build the fitters confidence and also gives our customers the reassurance they need to know that we are experts in our field.”
